BEAUTIFUL RESTS HERE

Taking a rest is a beautiful thing. We found some of the most beautiful designs to support your mission.

When a warm tropical breeze can flow all around you, top to bottom, front to back, as you are suspended in the air above turquoise lagoon, you have a new definition of heaven. A grid-meshed hammock hangs, extended from the wooden dock, outside your room at the Shangri-La Villingili Resort & Spa in the Maldives, ready to receive you -- and your dreams.

Perhaps you’d like to choose your own body of water above which to swing in the breeze? Trek Light Gear has a beautiful accommodation for you. Their Compact Hammock, weighs less than one pound but it can hold up to four hundred pounds, so you can easily carry it to your next resting spot. Made of intensely colored, extremely breathable, water resistant material,  this hammock is ready for any adventure you might pursue.

Rest in a soft nest with the Swingrest Hanging Lounger, by Dedon. It features a woven basket bottom, a comfy cushioned bed, and a pile of pillows to support you any which way you lay, all supported by a sophisticated suspension system for a smooth ride to the Land of Nod. It even sports a rotating table to hold drinks and snacks.

Napping as you sway above the water is lovely, of course, but check out these hammocks that keep you suspended in the water. Aaahhh…. These colorful hammocks can be found soaking in the pools at the beautiful Hotelito Desconocido Sanctuary Reserve, nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Madre Mountains, outside of La Cruz de Loreto, Mexico. Settled into one of these and your muscles, and your cares, will simply dissolve away.

If you’d like a more grounded approach to napping, we love the Royal Botania Wave Hammock, designed by Erik Nyberg and Gustov Storm. It is ingeniously supported in only one place, giving it an illusion of floating, but it can withstand plenty of weight and weather. Crafted from electro- polished stainless steel and semi-transparent perforated fabric, it’s a work of art.

If you’d like a little more company while you lounge -- perhaps a menage a trois? -- try the Infinity Hammock, by Trinity Hammocks. You can order yours in quilted fabric or woven mesh, to suit your comfort style. A central hanging teak table provides a place to put all those things usually stuck in your pocket, and/or some piña coladas.

This sleek hammock is more like a bed. The award winning La Seora, designed by architect Anthony Logothetis for Seora Luxury Hammock, is a  hybrid between a hammock, a chez-lounge, and a deck lounger. Its patented design is handcrafted in Milan. You can enhance the experience by configuring your Seora with various accessories such as a pillow and side pocket for your magazines and sunglasses (or your phone and iPad -- if you must).

The Millionaires Magnetic Floating Bed, as seen from its name, can cost quite a bit more than an average bed. But then again, an average bed doesn’t let you levitate! Yes, you can float in midair for a beautiful sci-fi rest in this beaut, thanks to its awesome opposing magnets. Designed by architect Janjaap Ruijssenaars, for Universe Architecture, this bed is held steady by four thin wires so you don’t go floating around the room crashing into to things. What better place to take a nap and dream about the future?

Finally, you can take a rest on a golden doodle. The Corallo Bed, designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana, for Edra,  is an airy delight. With frame of tangled golden wire, coated in 24 carat gold, it is meant to symbolize both the natural and the urban jungles of Brazil.  Perhaps your dreams might be more creative here? It’s definitely worth a try!
