BLOWN BEAUTIES FOR BEAUTIFUL TABLES NOW
Glassblowers blow a personal, creative wind into molten silica to create their pieces. We found 10 beautiful mouth blown bowls and vessels, some of which look like they were blown by the wind itself. Check them out below.
1. POOL BOWL -- BOROWSKI
This hand-blown Pool Bowl, by the Borowski Brothers is fun, fresh, and very beautiful. It’s available in 3 colors.
Glasstudio Borowski was founded by French artist Stanislaw Borowski and his two eldest sons Pawel and Wiktor. Their works can be found in exclusive galleries, international museums, private collections and prestigious art fairs worldwide.
2. MERLETTO IRREGOLARE BOWL -- ARCHIMEDE SEGUSO
This rare 'Merletto' (lace) glass bowl is extraordinarily beautiful. It was designed by the Italian master glassblower Archimede Seguso (1900-1999) and executed by his studio Vetreria Archimede Seguso in Murano (circa 1952). It is made of free-blown glass in 'a canne' technique with green and amber fused stripes. His signature is engraved.
Available from 1st Dibs.
3. SMILEY -- EVA SOLO
This is one happy mouth-blown bowl. Its smiling shape makes a perfect receptacle for nuts and their discarded shells. Could work well for olives and their pits too. From Scandinavian designer Eva Solo.
4. WAVE VESSEL -- NICHOLSON
Artists Rick and Janet Nicholson’s experimental glass-blowing studio in Auburn, California, created this gorgeous piece as part of their Wave Vessels & Bowls Series.
Each piece has a unique set of swirls and asymmetrical forms. Custom colors are available.
The Nicholson Studio creates innovative sculpture, sculptural lighting, multiple piece wall and ceiling installations. Janet, a graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography, is once again pursuing her photography.
5. SUN PAPERWEIGHT -- GLASS EYE STUDIO
This exceptional blown glass paperweight, created by Seattle-based Glass Eye Studio, is like a sphere of shifting plasma and magnetic fields. It is aptly named Sun and is one of the Studio’s beautiful Celestial Series. The center looks like a swirl of solar wind.
Everything from Glass Eye Studio contains ash from the 1980 Mount St. Helens eruption. And, all pieces are signed and presented with story cards in a velvet keepsake box. Why not use this paperweight in the kitchen to hold down some beautiful recipes?
6. SORBET HAND BLOWN GLASS BOWL - EVANS ATELIER
This swirling beauty looks like it was blown by the wind itself, but it was actually mouth-blown and hand-painted by Evans Atelier. This innovative glass and design studio is located at the piedmont of the Jizera Mountains in Northern Bohemia, an area with a 750 year history of glassmaking.
The studio has developed a unique way of superimposing layers of colour into the glass to yield extraordinary shades and original effects.
7. VINTAGE ART GLASS BASKET - CHALET
This beautiful Vintage Art Glass Basket by Chalet looks like a windblown wave. Made of thick Blue Glass with a thick crystal clear casing, the rim has been pulled in a free form style, with opposite sides pulled together to create a handle. Circa 1960.
Available from Etsy.
8. BLOWN GLASS SQUARE BOWL -- MARK ROSENBAUM
New Orleans glassblower Mark Rosenbaum, of Rosetree Glass, created this gorgeous fluid piece for yet another beautiful windblown look. Each piece he creates is unique, as he “sketches” each in glass as he works, spontaneously. “Glassblowing is much akin to a dance, “ says Rosenbaum, “the artist moves with respect and knowledge of the partner.” His most recent work reflects his environment and surroundings in New Orleans.
9. A PENTONI MURANO ART GLASS BOWL -- FRATELLI TOSO
This colorful Murano hand blown art glass bowl, made with yellow and orange sliced murrine pieces, using the A Pentoni technique, was designed by Ermanno Toso, for Fratelli Toso.
It is a mid-century modern piece (circa 1950’s-1960’s). Why not pair it with its companion piece, done in green.

The Sinuous Murano Glass Bowl is blown in a free-form wind-blown design.
It features organic swirls of cerulean blue and plum, with murices throughout. This piece was made in Italy, circa 1950.
