WONDER WOMAN HORSE WHISPERER
LETIZIA REATO -- SPEAK HORSE
Some Wonder Women work quietly, in seemingly small ways, but once you get to know them, you learn their true impact. Some whisper with great power.
Horse whisperer Letizia “Zia” Reata is a Wonder Woman with horses. She speaks their language and feels their souls.
She’s not particularly famous. She hasn’t personally touched millions of lives. She has pursued her personal passion for horses for over 20 years since she first felt its stirrings at the age of 7.
Growing up in rural Switzerland, Reato trained as a rider, learning vaulting, dressage, and show jumping. By the time she was 11, she worked at a local dairy farm, helping to tend their sleigh horses. And she began, at these tender early ages to connect with horses in ways that few humans ever do.
She began to learn horse “language.” Equipped with only a bridle, she worked with the horses, seeking to understand how they think and feel -- seeking to learn what they want and what motivates them.
Through her teens she learned more at a new riding school, including Western style lessons, which were unique to the local area. And the more she learned, the more she began to understand the "language" of horses.
After her schooling was completed, Reata traveled the world for a few years, working with horses from Ireland to New Zealand. She worked with show horses, polo horses, hunters, and rescues.
In 2008, Reata began volunteering for a local horse rescue in Oregon, where she cared for over 40 horses. Many of these horses were sick, injured, traumatized, abused and fearful. She learned invaluable lessons about the psychology of horses, which became a vital tool in her training and teaching methodology.
Reata observed that human/animal communication can suffer a significant “language” barrier, which can easily lead to frustration and abandonment of the relationship.
Reata found that the solution is to ask the horse directly! And she began to master the art of horse whispering. She developed a new communication philosophy that has set the foundation for the guiding principles behind her Wild Child Ranch and Speak Horse.
Reata now teaches humans and horses to communicate with each other. Her programs provide unforgettable adventures on horseback, through the forests, hidden meadows. Watch Reato in action here.
Reata extends her magic to help wild horses, at risk because of hunting, human encroachment, and abuse. Her primary goal is to help these wild horses find good, compatible homes. Check out this video to learn more about Reata and the language wild horses.
With incredible dedication and immense empathy, Reata has developed a intensely deep understanding of what makes a happy horse. She creates lasting relationships between people and horses and helps to set the foundation for mutual understanding and respect.
Speak Horse offers horse training, riding lessons and Adventure Rides to horse enthusiasts of all skill levels.
