NEW BEAUTIFUL WAY TO SEE TREES

PRZEMYSLAW KRUK
Much of the beauty of trees in Spring and Summer is expressed in their gorgeous green leaves. However, there is beauty well beyond the green that we can now appreciate in new ways.

Award-winning photographer Przemyslaw Kruk sees trees differently. He captures their magnificence with infrared photography which, among other things, makes all the green look white!

The photos are have a beautiful ghostly feel. And, although taken in full-on spring and summer, they almost look wintry, with the white making trees and grass look snowy.

Infrared is a range of light in the electromagnetic spectrum that senses and displays heat. While some animals, such as snakes, can see infrared, humans cannot detect infrared light with the naked eye.

Infrared sensors have been developed to aid in a slew of cool imaging and other technology applications, ranging from astronomy to art restoration.

Kruk switches out the wavelengths of light that his camera picks up, using an infrared filter, and he changes our entire view of trees.

Kruk only takes IR photos when conditions are right -- it has to be extra bright outside. That’s why we can see a range of subtle colors in his IR images.

Kruk has always been inspired by his passion for hiking in the mountains and immersing himself in the beauty of the landscapes in his native Poland.

He is also influenced by Polish fine art pictorialists, such as Tadeusz Wanski and Anatol Wcclawski. Softly framed compositions and moody lighting are intrinsic in Kruk’s style.
