Award-winning Dutch photographer Eelco Roos shares his wanderlust with us in a series of extraordinary images taken during his travels.

These are not ordinary tourist snapshots, nor are they standard travelogue fare. They are super-clean, vivid, and hyper-realistic in style. Yet, they are not purely materialized in-camera. 

Roos creates his own filters using different apps. And, while he spends more than a half hour editing in post-production, he takes care to make it look like each is a result of minimal edit.

With magnificent landscapes and emotional vignettes, Roos takes us from the dramatic peaks of the Canadian rockies, to foggy moorlands in Scotland, to pristine stretches of Australian beach.

One of his favorite photos depicts a father and daughter praying at the Western Wall, in Israel. Although he typically doesn’t share photographs of strangers, this particularly heartfelt scene moved him deeply.

Roos began his work life as an IT specialist. But when he began taking photographs and posting them on Instagram, in 2011, he created a sensation. They went viral. Now he has almost ½ million followers.

His popularity brought commercial attention as well. Roos now works exclusively as a professional photographer. He photographs for tourism agencies, as well as brands, such as Samsung and Sony.
