MADAGASCAR’S BAOBAB AVENUES AT DAWN
Six out of earth’s eight species of baobab trees live exclusively on the island of Madagascar. In fact, over 90% of the species of plant and animal life found on Madagascar are found nowhere else in the world. One thing they all, unfortunately, have in common with most of our planet’s lifeforms is that they are in dire threat of extinction as a result of human messes.
If you want to experience this fleeting testimony to evolution—and are willing to tread super-lightly—Madagascar will delight you with its beautiful treasures. Unlike the Galapagos, more widely known for the Origin of Species, as studied and celebrated by Charles Darwin, Madagascar remains mostly off tourists’ radar screens. Another unusual, and delicious USP: Madagascar is an exceptional source of two of our favorite things on earth, chocolate and vanilla.
