BEAUTIFUL PURPLE CRYSTAL POWER
Purple crystals have been celebrated for many millennia -- believed to have physical, spiritual, and emotional powers. Today, we have explored the impacts of purple power in three Beautiful Purple stones: Amethyst, Sugilite, and Purple Fluorite.
AMETHYST
Amethyst crystals have long been believed to have broad spiritual powers -- to increase spiritulality in general. Some believe they are “alive” with energy vibrations. The use of Amethyst can be traced as far back as 25,000 B.C. to the Neolithic people in Europe.
The name Amethyst comes from the Greek word ametusthos, meaning “not intoxicated.” One legend has it that Bacchus, the god of wine, took some anger out on an innocent bystander. He decreed that the first person he should meet would be devoured by his tigers.
The beautiful maiden named Amethyst was about to become his victim until the goddess Diana saved her by turning her into a clear, white crystal. A remorseful Bacchus poured his wine over the stone as an offering, giving the gem its lovely purple hue.
Ancient peoples came to consider amethyst as a “sobriety crystal,” helping to break addictions and heal withdrawal symptoms. Ancient Romans believed it prevented drunkenness.
Amethyst, listed as the twelfth foundation stone of the New Jerusalem, was considered by some to be inscribed with the name of the apostle Matthew, and was emblematic of his conversion and sobriety.
Later, Catholic bishops also wore Amethyst rings to protect from mystical intoxication. People kissed the ring in hopes of gaining similar protections.
Amethyst has been thought to aid hunters, increasing their bounty. It was also thought to protect them against witchcraft and black magic. Travelers counted on its protection from treachery and surprise attacks.
As ancient traditions and practices have been passed down through generations, many people today still believe in the spiritual and physical powers of Amethyst.
Called the “All-healer,” Amethyst is believed to be one of the most effective crystals for healing people, plants and animals.
It is used to treat a whole host of physical ailments, including headaches, insomnia, arthritis, diabetes, pain relief, circulatory and endocrine system issues problems, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, immune system deficiencies, asthma, phobias, pregnancy and preventing miscarriage, menopause, PMS, and general healing.
Amethyst has great heart and soul impacts as well for many people. Amethyst associated with the third eye and crown chakras. It is also believed to open the heart chakra.
Amethyst is used to help calm people and aid their meditation. It is used to stimulate lucid dreaming. Amethysts are said to bring purple peace as well as to enhance intuition and psychic power.
Amethyst was also reputed to control evil thoughts and increase intelligence. It is a talisman of focus and success.
Some believe amethyst can belp with legal problems and bring prosperity and abundance.
It is the crystal used to open up channels to past lives, supernatural visions and communication with angels. It is believed that amethyst protects the psyche from loss, grief, and attack.
In Feng Shui, Amethyst utilizes Fire Energy -- the energy of enthusiasm, warmth, brightness, illumination and activity. It is Yang in nature. It imparts the energy of heat, action, emotion and passion. It sparks ideas as well as sex. It is traditionally associated with the south area of a home or room.
PURPLE FLUORITE
Amethyst isn’t the only Beautiful Purple gem. Purple Fluorite (CaF2) is said to enhance intuition and bring order out of chaos. Some claim that Purple Fluorite dispels negative energy, from the environment, such as electromagnetic smog from computers.
It is considered a creative resource, helping to inspire new ideas, expanding your mind. Yet it also is thought to keep you focused.
When placed on the Crown or Third Eye chakras, Purple Fluorite can enhance communication with spirit guides, angels and nature spirits.
Purple Fluorite is believed to enhance the immune system, build strong bones, and heal scars.
This gem turns fluorescent under ultraviolet lighting.
SUGILITE (LUVULITE)
Sugilite is considered one of the most important love stones. It represents spiritual love and wisdom - opening and aligning all the chakras to love with its beautiful purple rays.
In a love vibration, sugilite protects the soul from trauma. It relieves spiritual tension. It helps one to forgive. And it brings love to every situation.
Some people place sugilite on the third eye to alleviate despair and headaches. Sugilite is also used by healers to treat everything from dyslexia, to pain relief, to lymph and blood purification.
When used in combination with amethyst, sugilite is thought to become even more powerful.
Whatever you believe, being in the presence of these Beautiful Purple crystals is bound to have an affect on you. Even if you are simply moved by their magnificence.
