PET CAFÉS

Coffee and kitty is even sweeter than coffee and cake! That’s why pet lovers are loving pet cafés, a new phenomenon popping up around the world.

A pet café is like a regular café, except that it is full of pets! People come to hang out with each other and with warm bundles of furry love.

1. SYDNEY CAT CAFÉ -- SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Sydney Cat Café is slated to open in Australia this September!

This café hopes to become a relaxing place where people can work, sip freshly brewed coffee, and share some love with some feline friends from Sydney-based animal shelters.

2. DAT CAT CAFÉ -- NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA

Get ready to meet your new best friend!

Dat Cat Café, in New Orleans, adopts cats from Animal Rescue New Orleans and other local, no-kill rescue groups. If you happen to fall in love with the cat you are petting as you sip your java, you’re in luck. The café cats are available for adoption.

With coffee from Orleans Coffee Roasters, as well as baked goods from La Boulangerie and Laurel Street Bakery, Dat Cat Café, is sure to keep you purring.

3. CRUMBS & WHISKERS -- WASHINGTON, D.C.

If you want both delicious food, and beautiful cats to play with, Crumbs & Whiskers, in Washington, D.C., is the place to be!

With snacks from Georgetown Bites and adorable cats from the Washington Humane Society, how can you not love this place. And, if you fall in love, you can adopt!

4. MELBOURNE CAT CAFE -- MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

The Melbourne Cat Café is more of a cat playroom than a café, with more focus on the love of pets than the love of food. Come pet 12 kitties rescued from The Lost Dogs’ Home and Geelong Animal Welfare Society.

Book an appointment online, and head to this café for some quality cat time!

5. MEOW PARLOUR -- NEW YORK, NEW YORK

Meow Parlour is slated to be NYC’s first cat café, co-founded by Christina Ha and Emilie Legrand, of the Macaron Parlour, a sister café that supplies both places with scrumptious pastries.

Share some cuddles with any one or more of the adoptable cats here from the KittyKind rescue center.

6. NEKO CAFE HAPINEKO -- TOKYO, JAPAN

Japanese cat lovers have a few cafés to choose from, but we especially love Neko Café Hapineko, located in the heart of Shibuya, Tokyo.

It’s comfy, cozy atmosphere makes both cats and patrons very happy.

7. NEKO NO NIWA -- SINGAPORE, MALAYSIA

Neko No Niwa, a cat café in Singapore, was founded by Sue and Sam, two cat lovers who are strong proponents of cat therapy -- healing by loving cats.

Cats are free to roam, eat, sleep, and play here. For an hourly fee, you can join them.

8. BAU HOUSE DOG CAFE -- SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA

Hang out with dogs at the Bau House Dog Cafe, in Seoul, South Korea. You can even bring your own pooch here for a playdate.

9. HIMMELSKA HUNDAR (HEAVENLY DOGS) -- STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN

Himmelska Hundar, which means Heavenly Dogs, in Swedish, is a heavenly place for dogs and their human friends to grab a bite and a drink in Stockholm, with pet friendly tables, both inside and outside on the terrace. And, it offers an extra treat for doggies -- a full-service pet spa!

10. BRING FIDO

If you like to dine with your doggie, you need to check out BringFido. It’s an online directory that dog-friendly restaurants. Founded by Melissa Halliburton and her adopted dog, Rocco, Bring Fido also provides unbiased reviews, detailed pet policy info, as well as online reservations at 25,000+ pet friendly hotels, B&Bs, vacation rentals, & campgrounds in 150 countries worldwide.
