HEAVEN IN THE DEW OF LITTLE THINGS

Insect covered in dew. Photo by Ondrej Pakan.

Dew drops have their own form of poetry. They seem more rare than raindrops. They occur more often, yet we see them less often. They disappear more quickly. We feel them differently -- we relate to them in a special way.

Today, we are sharing dew drop musings along with a series of spectacular macro images, featuring dew drops on beautiful delicate bugs, created by photographer Ondrej Pakan.

“She comes skimmin’ through rays of violet, she can wade in a drop of dew.”

-- Grateful Dead

“When we contemplate the whole globe as one great dewdrop, striped and dotted with continents and islands, flying through space with other stars all singing and shining together as one, the whole universe appears as an infinite storm of beauty.”

-- John Muir

When I sound the fairy call, gather here in silent meeiing, Chin to knee on the orchard wall, cooled with dew and cherries eating. Merry, merry, take a cherry, mine are sounder, mine are rounder, Mine are sweeter for the eater, when the dews fall, and you'll be fairies all.

-- Emily Dickinson

“Every dew-drop and rain-drop had a whole heaven within it.”

-- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

“But words are things, and a small drop of ink, Falling like dew, upon a thought, produces That which makes thousands, perhaps millions, think.”

-- George Byron

“Life is no more than a dewdrop balancing on the end of a blade of grass.”

-- Buddha

“Let your life lightly dance on the edges of Time like dew on the tip of a leaf.”

-- Rabindranath Tagore

“For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.”

-- Kahlil Gibran

“How cunningly nature hides every wrinkle of her inconceivable antiquity under roses and violets and morning dew!”

-- Ralph Waldo Emerson.
