BEAUTIFUL DRIVES THROUGH AMERICANA NOW
Autumn is a beautiful time to indulge in beautiful drives.
Check out some of the most beautiful road trips through Americana, as curated by the BeautifulNow team.
1. DRINK & DRIVE -- KENTUCKY
Ok, so we are not advocating that you put anyone in jeopardy by driving drunk, but we are highly recommending a bourbon-soaked road trip through Kentucky.
Travel from Lexington to Louisville and back, sipping along the way. Just make sure that you get sober after each stop before you hit the road again. Or get yourself a designated driver. :)
Check out the historic distilleries in Lexington, Lawrenceburg, Loretto, and Clermont, for tastings.
Travel via US-60 W and I-64 W, about 200 miles in total. You will be treated to views of blue grass pastures, dotted with Kentucky’s finest horses, hemmed in by picturesque white fences.
The distilleries themselves are sights to behold, with their gleam copper stills and aging wooden barrels. And, the bourbon… well… it is unparalleled.
2. A ROAD TRIP THAT SINGS -- CLEVELAND, NASHVILLE, MEMPHIS
Explore some American music history on a road trip from Cleveland’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, to a final stop at Graceland in Memphis.
From blues, to country, to rock & roll, you’ll get a taste of the music greats who carved out the musical landscape of America.
The buildings themselves are each beautiful in their own right.
The artifacts are legendary.
You will travel about 735 miles in total, along routes I-90 W, I-71 S and I-65 S, bopping and singing as you go.
3. A ROAD TRIP THROUGH MIDWESTERN ART, SPORTS & NATURE -- WISCONSIN
Start in Chicago and head west to Milwaukee then on to Door County, Wisconsin.
A must see stop is the magnificent Milwaukee Art Museum on the western shore of Lake Michigan.
Next, head to Lambeau Field for a Packers game. It’s an autumn football bliss spot.
And then, for some nature beauty, finish your drive in Door County. Hike, bike, take a boat ride on the lake.
For this drive, you’ll be traveling via routes I-94 W and I-43 N.
