MAKING BEAUTIFUL WAVES NOW

The Sears/Willis Tower might be the tallest, but the Aqua Tower is perhaps the most beautiful building in the Chicago skyline. The tower features softly undulating balconies, like the waves of the adjacent Chicago River.

At 82 stories high, the Aqua Tower is the tallest building in the world to have been designed by a woman. Led by founder and principal, Jeanne Gang, the stunning skyscraper is the creation of Studio Gang Architects. The Art Institute of Chicago is drawing back the curtain to allow a peek into the staggering creative process for Studio Gang Architects. Their current exhibit, “Building: Inside Studio Gang Architects” runs through February 24th in galleries 283 through 285.
