BEAUTIFUL MYSTERIES OF MORNINGS NOW

Each opportunity to awaken comes with its own set of mysteries.

Despite whatever degree of familiarity we experience -- arising from the same bed, with the same view out the window, the same partner’s cuddle from which we must disentangle, the same path to the bathroom, the same coffee pot brewing… of course, it is never really the same.

We don’t know exactly what to expect of a new morning. And therein lies the possibility for new beauty.

Polish photographer Boguslaw Strempel romances mornings’ mysteries, heightening their magical airs with fairytale lighting, plunging into the mist.

He captures morning fogs as they soften the shock of transition from slumber to endeavor, gently holding us in a dreamlike state, as the warmth of a down duvet lifts to meet the pink chill of dawn.

Strempel is a bit of a mystery himself. We know only that he lives and works in Poland and the Czech Republic.

He has to hike quite a distance to reach peak spots where no one else had tread. Rising before dawn so that he is there to capture every precious fleeting moment of the sun rising up and painting the landscaping with its wash of colored light.

He is obsessed with daybreaks. He luxuriates in fog. He is happy with haze. He is a master of softness. And with it all, Strempel produces strong, powerful portraits of the earth awakening to glory.

And when the fog lifts, and the sun is high enough to gild the edges of the hills and the backs of sheep grazing upon them, Strempel adjusts his gaze, letting the light caress his camera lens to produce yet another spectacular series of waking moments.

Strempel expands his view to where the edges of humanity and nature meet and greet each other, murmuring “good morning,” then more emphatically pressing each other to “rise and shine.”
