THE FEMALE LENS

The arts have never been gender balanced. Male artists have always garnered more attention, more respect, and higher price tags for their work. It is certainly unrelated to talent. Seeing 372 fine art photos by female photographers at The Photography Show presented by AIPAD 2019, more than ever before, gave us hope.

The photos range from deeply personal visual stories to emotive abstractions of color and lights. We’re sharing some of our favorite images by Imogen Cunningham, Formento + Formento, Sally Gall, Jeanine Michna-Bales, Sharon Core, Lisa Holden, and Mickaline Thomas, to name just a few.

Check them out below. And see more BeautifulNow curated highlights from The Photography Show all this week.

Stay tuned for updates on the rescheduling of Paris Photo New York once the COVID-19 pandemic subsides.
