In the mind and hands of an artist light shines as art.

David Gilliver, paints with light by night and works in finance by day. His images are breathtaking.

In a recent photo essay, Gilliver transforms Guernsey, the British Channel Island where he resides.

He spent 200 nights, over 20 months, exploring Guernsey in a whole new light -- lightsabers, light orbs, glow sticks, and torches, to be exact.

Gilliver paints with light, swirling and swooshing his sabers into waves, ribbons, and orbs. He photographs this process, using super long exposures, to capture the light trails.

Guernsey becomes a magic fantasy land, with Gilliver’s ribbons of light adding beautiful color, texture, grace, and even whimsy. It is a genius way to elevate the rugged island, still home to German built bunkers along its coastline since it was occupied by the Nazis in World War II.

Sometimes Gilliver works with more sophisticated lamps, lamps fingers, slimline LED, lasers, scripters, platubes, and other specialized light sources.

Gilliver is donating 50% of all sale proceeds raised by the sale of his E-book to TWLOHA, a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.
