BEAUTIFUL MEALS IN MOTION NOW

by Anthony Florio.

Food to-go is food in motion. It takes on new meaning as we look at some beautiful interpretations happening right now. We found two photographers who capture food in motion in brilliant images that will make your eyes pop and your mouth water.

And we found some gorgeous baskets and vessels you can buy right now to make your picnics, tailgates, and other meals in motion even more beautiful. Check them out below.

ANTHONY FLORIO

Belgian culinary photographer Anthony Florio creates explosively beautiful works of art, based on his love for food.

Florio was a kitchen enthusiast before he decided to launch a business photographing food.

Florio has collaborated with leaders in the culinary industry, like Jean-Philippe Watteyne of iCook restaurant and Clément Petitjean of La Grappe d’Or.

Florio explains his philosophy, “I experiment, I recreate, I do... I explore the food universe. Humans, food, places, textures, details and even more.”

The food he photographs jumps off the page, allowing us to explore their textures and colors. You can almost smell the basil, the fish, and the broth, for example, understanding how the flavors move together as a chef cooks and a connoisseur tastes.

“Recipes,” a series created by Berlin-based art director and designer Nora Luther and photographer Pavel V. Becker, captures the energy and motion of cooking, showing how a dish comes together.

Each photograph includes a recipe’s raw ingredients, presented in the correct proportions, hovering weightlessly above the vessel that will soon hold the completed, cooked dish. The captured moments act that seem like infographics, as quantifications are turned into art.

Bright red rings of hot chili peppers zing through the air, chased by mint, garlic, and lemon. You just know they’re going to dance in your mouth!

Translucent prosciutto and eggplant ribbons float through the air, descending to combine with herbs and spices.

Fish filets drift nakedly, soon to be cloaked in lemon and herb sauce.

Luther and Pavel merge their visions at their studio in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

“The photographs tease the pleasant anticipation of fresh food and its preparation,” Luther describes, adding “while the look of the ready cooked dish is left to your own imagination and creativity.”
