PINK IS A BEAUTIFUL STATE OF MIND & SPIRIT NOW
Pink is a meaningful color. It has come to symbolize a heightened awareness about a need to change and a respect for life. The most well-known pink cause is to cure breast cancer. We are sharing two other beautiful pink missions with you today.
PINK STATE
A beautiful pink geyser recently erupted in Iceland!
It is the Rauður Thermal Project, the handiwork of artist Marco Evaristti, who is passionate about the color pink, not just because he likes the color, but because it helps him to deliver an important message about the state of the world.
“In many aspects, we take Nature for granted,” Evaristti explains, “but the (pink) colouring forces us to stop, look, think.” He hopes the pink will remind us to stop, listen and think about each other too.
Iceland’s Strokkur Geyser, which Evaristti injected with a biodegradable fruit-based pink dye, is the 5th production in his Pink State series of environmental art installations, which he started 10 years ago when he painted an iceberg in Greenland. Others included works at Mont Blanc, the Sahara Desert, and Norway.
Originally from Chile, now residing in Denmark, Evaristti recently turned fountains across Denmark pink to celebrate democracy on Election Day. Check out the Pink Election on Vimeo.
According to Evaristti, Pink State is a state of mind, based on three principles:
- be good to yourself
- be good to others
- be good to Nature

CODE PINK
Founded in 2002, by Jodie Evans, Medea Benjamin, Diane Wilson, Starhawk, and about 100 other women activists, Code Pink is an incredible grassroots organization that is committed to peace, human rights, and sustainability, among other “life affirming” missions.
They are primarily mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and daughters, workers, students, teachers, healers, artists, writers, singers, and poets. And they are serious about ending global militarism.
And, they often wear pink!
Their inaugural effort was a 4-day vigil for peace, which ended in a march to encircle the White House in pink. Over 10,000 people participated. We recently featured one of their collaborative efforts, Women Cross DMZ, a peace activation with North & South Korea.
Check out more of their important work here.
