10 BEAUTIFUL WALKS THROUGH SPRINGTIME NOW
Time to get outside for a beautiful stroll through springtime! Drink in the sights and scents of cherry, jacaranda, and wisteria blossoms, to name a few. We’ve curated 10 gorgeous places to walk through spring now. See them below.
1. KAWACHI FUJIEN -- JAPAN
Showers of purple wisteria blooms rain down from above the pathways at Kawachi Fujien, a private wisteria garden in Japan. Late April is the time to plan your spring walks here, when you’ll see over 150 wisteria trees, in 22 varieties, covering a 10,000 square meters area.
Walk through the 2 wisteria tunnels, one 80m long (263 ft) and the other 220m long (722 ft).
2. TAIWAN
Spring in Taiwan is a study in many colors. You can walk through paths lined with delicately tinted peach, plum, and apple blossoms at Wuling Farm.
Or you can go to the other extreme with a walk down Cotton Tree Alley, a vibrant strip, with bright red blossoms getting all the attention in springtime. When in bloom, it’s breathtaking as you stroll along stands of cottonwoods, with their straight rough trunks and their fiery crowns.
3. STOCKHOLM -- SWEDEN
While we normally think of Japan or Washington, D.C. as cherry blossom meccas, Stockholm, Sweden has a lovely display. Dating back to the Middle Ages, Kungsträdgården (“The King’s Garden”) has a massive display of the soft pink blossoms.
Walk through paths lined with 63 Japanese cherry trees. And celebrate Cherry Blossom Day, a festival organized in partnership with the Japanese government.

4. MOLYVOS -- LESVOS, GREECE
Whitewashed streets offer a brilliant contrast to the profusion of spring blossoms in Molyvos, on the Greek island of Lesvos.
Balconies, overflowing with tumbles of bright pink bougainvillaea and cheerful geraniums greet you as you stroll through the narrow cobblestone paved labyrinth.

From the flower covered village centre to the the blossom-canopied streets that wind you from the fishing harbor to cafes to ouzo watering holes, spring is spectacular here.
5. GRAFTON -- AUSTRALIA
Get a hit of purple bliss at the world-famous Jacaranda Festival, in Grafton, in New South Wales, Australia. Of course, springtime in Oz happens during the northern hemisphere’s autumn. The Festival takes place from the last weekend in October to the first weekend in November.
Walk down Grafton’s broad jacaranda tree lined avenues and revel in the lilac blossoms. They take their spring beauty seriously here.
6. PELOPONNESE, GREECE
The Peloponnese, in Greece, is filled with super-colorful villages and towns. Nafplio, a seaside town, is representative, with narrow streets festooned with bright sprays of spring blossoms, spilling over balconies and arching overhead.
7. HEERSTRASSE -- BONN, GERMANY
Heerstrasse, also known as the Cherry Blossom Avenue, is a beautiful place for a spring amble through the hip Nordstadt neighborhood of Bonn, Germany. Everything looks better with a canopy of pink cherry blossoms overhead. You’ll be right near Beethoven’s house.
8. SPELLO -- UMBRIA, ITALY
The ancient fortress walls of Spello, a Medieval town, built on Roman foundations, in Umbria, Italy, are dripping with loads of flowers in springtime. Rose colored stone walls, terracotta roofs, and stone pathways, offer soft colors and hard planes, in contrast with softly ruffled brightly colored blossoms.
Try to visit it during the Infiorata Flower Festival when the streets are covered with intricate flower designs.
9. NATIONAL CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL -- WASHINGTON DC
Millions of sweet pink blossoms grace the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. every spring. Take a walk through plantings of more than 3,000 cherry trees that Japan gave to the US in 1912 to honor the friendship between the 2 countries.
10. HALLERBOS -- BELGIUM
Springtime in Belgium is awash in bluebells. The Hallerbos Forest, near Brussels, is a particularly gorgeous place to walk when they are blooming, in April and May.
As you walk along the woodland paths, with bright blue clusters of joy on either side, you will likely be kissed by the ethereal fog that often forms in this forest. It accentuates the heady fragrance that surrounds you.
