WORLD KINDNESS DAY

Today, November 13, 2017, is World Kindness Day. We’re feeling a bit mixed about it. On one hand, we think it’s a great idea for everyone to focus on being kind today --- on the other hand, we wish that every day would be a day when we focus on kindness.

But carpe diem! Let’s all be kind today! Let’s spread kindness as far and wide -- and as deeply -- as we can.

Studies have found that when people observe kindness, they are more likely to carry be kind as well. Kindness inspires kindness. It can even go viral!

The World Kindness Movement started World Kindness Day in 1998 and has spread to 28 countries.

Beyond the kindness we show towards each other under normal circumstances, there are so many in need of extra kindness. Humans who are suffering as a result of crisis or loss, need extra love and attention. Animals who have been abandoned or abused, need kindness. Even our fragile planet needs kindness. There is infinite need. And there is infinite love if we open our hearts and spread kindness.

The Kindness Boomerang: How to Save the World (and Yourself) Through 365 Daily Acts, a book and film by Orly Wahba , offers lessons and suggestions on activating the power of kindness. It serves as a guide to incorporating kindness into your daily life, with a recommended kind action to take, an inspirational quote, and a short reflection about the power of paying it forward.

Wahba, founder of Live Vest Inside, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering everyone to engage in acts of love and kindness, has broken the concept of kindness down into 12 categories -- you can connect with each one to become a kinder person. Wahba also serves CEO of Kindness USA.

We hope we’ve inspired you to be extra kind today and every day. And spread some kindness wherever you go. You can start by sharing this story on social media! Use #WorldKindessDay.
