L’INTERNATIONAL DES FEUX LOTO-QUEBEC -- MONTREAL FIREWORKS FESTIVAL

Regardless of your current opinion of US politics, as we approach the US holiday that celebrates independence, there’s good reason to go to Canada to check out the fireworks right now.

L'International des Feux Loto-Québec, also known as the Montreal Fireworks Festival, is the largest fireworks festival in the world.

It has been held yearly in La Ronde over the Dolphins lake, since 1985. The festival’s main sponsor, Loto-Québec.

More than 3 million spectators ogle 6,000 fireworks during each pyromusical show. Pyrotechnical companies from different countries compete for the Gold, Silver and Bronze trophies.

This year, the festival begins July 1 and runs through August 5, with a series of biweekly fireworks. The fireworks are synchronized to music which is also broadcast local provincial radio stations.

You can purchase tickets for reserved seats in La Ronde. You can watch them for free at a number of locations around town, including these 8 amazing spots.
