WORKING DOGS ARE BEAUTIFUL DOGS NOW!

Work can be a very beautiful thing. Check out these gorgeous photographs of amazing working dogs.

Working dogs are some of the most beautiful pets on earth, because they have helped the human species progress. One artist portrays them in the dignified light that they deserve.

Andrew Fladeboe photographed working dogs on the job for his three-part series, The Shepherd’s Realm. He documents the mental and physical dedication that they use.

He photographed a variety of animals at first, but for his 2nd and 3rd installations, he traveled to beautiful farms and breeders’ homes in Norway and New Zealand, specifically to capture working dogs. 

Fladeboe wants his audiences to understand the talent and dedication that these working pets possess. They tire out their bodies every day, herding sheep and helping their owners. 

He put in hard work of his own to capture them, as he has crawled through mud, laid in farm muck, and worked in poor weather conditions, in his photographic efforts.

The most difficult part of his work isn’t getting the dogs to pose for their portraits, but rather, convincing the farmers and dog owners to let him photograph their pets. But, Fladeboe says, they usually end up enjoying the photoshoot. They often then introduce him to their dog-owning friends.

Fladeboe’s art is inspired by the legendary work of Sir Edward Landseer. His photos are also reminiscent of the dioramas at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.

Fladeboe’s portraits dignify the working ethos that these beautiful dogs possess.

Fladeboe recently published 2 books, Dogs and New Zealand’s Working Dogs.
