A collection of cruelty is transformed into a collection of hope, as wild animals are rescued from black market trade. “Where the Wild Things Are,” a collection of extraordinary images by lifestyle and fashion photographer Natasha Wilson, documents the victories of their survival and celebrates their beauty.

Enough people want to keep exotic wild animals as pets, it fuels illegal trading. Gorgeous wild exotic cats, monkeys, birds, lizards, and wild creatures are captured from their natural habitats, then sold and trained to live with humans, suppressing their wild instincts.

Two monkeys pose with a womans porting black and green hair, wearing a white gown, sitting in front of yellow flowers.

Many of these animals are mistreated and ill-cared for. Though a number of lucky ones are rescued, by organizations such as Animal Tracks, they can never be returned to the wild… they would never survive.

The California-based wildlife sanctuary invited Wilson to meet its animal residents, learn about their histories, and see how they are rehabilitated.

The human + wild animal portraits in her “Wild Things” collection are elaborate. The animals are the stars, beautiful in both form and spirit, their magnificence heightened by models in romantic fantasy couture, with color drenched makeup, in fairy tale natural settings.
