BEAUTIFUL FIREWORKS COCKTAILS

While we’re in the mood for fireworks, we’ve gathered a few ideas for some beautiful fiery cocktails.

A pitcher of Watermelon Jalapeño Margaritas with a bowl of boiled peanuts.

Chili peppers and other spices are the star ingredients. Some sway Mexican, some sway Indian, some sway Thai, some sway Irish, some sway Spanish. They all pack some serious sparks.

Five dried jalapeño chili peppers.

While chilies can taste hot, they can cool you off on a hot night. That’s why so many countries with hot climates tend to feature chili peppers in their native cuisines.

Red, green, and yellow chilli peppers.

Chilies also add some healthy vitamins and antioxidants to your cocktail mix.

Try adding jalapeño, Anaheim, serrano, habanero, Thai bird, & Hungarian hot peppers to your drinks. Pisco Sours love habanero heat, for example. Lemon and maple syrup play counterpoint to cayenne.

Red, orange and green habanero and jalapeño peppers.

Pineapple, berries, peaches, cherries, tomatoes, lime, orange, lemon, kiwi, and watermelon all pair beautifully with chili fire. Just add some firewater and you’re all set for the most beautiful fireworks celebrations.

A table full of peperoncini chili peppers.

Serranos pair well with citrus and mango martinis. Jalapeño kicks up some mean Margaritas!

We also love to steep chipotle and other bright chilis in honey to use as a devilishly simple syrup to amp up bourbon, tequila and mezcal.

Spicy cocktail with chili pepper and lemon slices rests on top of a suitcase.

The Seven Wives cocktail sets off fireworks with arbol-infused Peychaud’s Bitters, amber rum, aperol, lemon & orange juices. Photographer Kevin O'Mara adapted the recipe created by James Ives, of Cure in New Orleans.

Passion Fruit Habanero Cocktail with lime.

Passion fruit, habanero, and tequila add some Mexican fireworks to make your hot July even hotter. Get the Annie’s Eats recipe here.

Spicy Irish Coffee with Chili peppers.

The Devil in Molly Malone is a fiery spirited version of Irish Coffee, made with chili infused coffee, aged single origin whiskey, maple syrup, and an angelic cloud of whipped cream. Created by Mark Prince, of CoffeeGeek. Get the recipe here.

Spicy gazpacho and guacamole cocktail.

If you like a nice spicy Bloody Mary, try a heftier spicier version for a hot July brunch. Photographer Marie M. conjured a brilliant idea: A cross between a chili-spiked Bloody Mary & Gazpacho layered atop spicy guacamole, crowned with cool whipped cream.

Beautiful colorful chili peppers hang from strings at the market.
