WAY BEYOND PRETTY CITY SUITES

As we continue to explore urban beauty, we curated a collection of some of the prettiest places to lay your head. From beautiful brand new offerings, to fully restored heritage properties, we found some extraordinary hotels in cities such as New York, London, Dubai, Macau, and Jaipur.

These hotels offer far more than gorgeous bedrooms, of course. Most come with extravagantly furnished suites and over-the-top amenities and services. But it is not just opulence for opulence sake -- our picks are full of incredible artwork, artisanship and brilliant design.

We admit, these picks are beyond expensive. And certainly there is plenty of urban beauty to be found in hotel suites of lesser stature. But these are true works of art in their own right and can be appreciated as such, whether you enjoy them in real life or from the comfort of your own beautiful armchair. Check them out below.

THE 13 -- MACAU, CHINA

The 13, a ultra luxury hotel Macau, China, is anything but unlucky.

Check out the 2,000-square-foot La Villa Du Comte room, which comes with a private room elevator and lobby. Relax in its ornate marble Roman bath with up to 8 of your closest friends. When not in use, the Roman Bath is covered by a retractable marble floor.

The décor combines spectacular floor to ceiling baroque details and period artworks, beautifully contrasted with modern elements.

The Royal Bedroom features a a king-size, velvet-canopied bed with an elaborately carved and gilded Baroque headboard. It is just one example of the faceted chrome Diamond Series Furniture, designed and created, together with leading artisans.

If you must venture out, a Rolls-Royce Phantom is at your beckon call.

THE GORING HOTEL -- LONDON

There are many reasons why the Goring Hotel is considered one of the most beautiful hotels in London. Kate Middleton agrees. She chose to stay here in the nights leading up to her Royal wedding, despite the fact that she had an invitation from the Queen to stay at Buckingham Palace. But we really love the fact that you can enjoy a personal pianist who plays, just for you, on the grand piano in your room when you stay in the hotel’s Royal Suite. You can listen while you lounge in your own monogrammed bathrobe and slippers, compliments of the Goring.

LOTTE NEW YORK PALACE -- NEW YORK

A hotel room that comes with a complimentary custom-sized diamond ring? Yes. It’s the Jewel Suite at the newly revamped Lotte New York Palace. But wait, there’s more!  The 5,000-square-foot triplex, designed by haute couture jeweler Martin Katz, is over the top and you will be on top of the world here.

Sip complimentary champagne and nibble on Michel Richard white chocolate truffles in the grand parlor by the grand piano as you gaze out of the 15’ high windows across the tops of iconic NY skyscrapers.

Sink into plush furnishings under handblown crystal chandeliers, including a 20’ diamond waterfall chandelier.

A glass mosaic by Katz adds bling to the dining room. Dine at a round mahogany table, set with 10 plush tufted blue velvet chairs, and crowned with a Venetian glass chandelier.

Retire to the fireplace in the third-floor sitting room. Or get some fresh air -- enjoy panoramic views over Manhattan from your sweeping terrace -- there’s a fireplace there too keep you warm and cozy after you emerge from the  jacuzzi tub.

If and when you are ever ready to leave this paradise, you’ll be spirited away by the complimentary private Maybach car service. And yes, you can take your diamond ring with you.

THE MARK HOTEL -- NEW YORK

Central Park is one of the most beautiful public parks in the world. You can enjoy it from your own 2,500-square-foot terrace at The Mark Hotel, in New York City.  Inside, get lost in the 12,000 square foot suite. Room service provided by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL -- NEW YORK

The Ty Warner Room at the Four Seasons hotel in New York City offers 360-degree views from four cantilevered glass balconies. This too comes with a grand piano.

RAJ PALACE -- JAIPUR, INDIA

Live like a raja in the Maharajah Pavilion at the Raj Palace hotel in Jaipur, India.

While it’s called a suite, this is actually a four floor 16,000 square foot apartment with a private entrance and a private elevator. It overlooks the inner courts of the palace, and the Charbagh gardens.

With gold leafed walls, gold, and silver furniture, it simply shines. The Highlight of the Suite is a private museum displaying the Old Throne and Bolsters of The Thakur Sahib (king or Maharajah).

Take in the panoramic view from your private rooftop Terrace  as you dip in and out of the Jacuzzi and swimming pool. You can stay as private as you wish -- your butler has his own entrance and quarters.
