EXTRAORDINARY FLORAL GIFTS NOW

The gift of fresh flowers is fairly guaranteed to be well loved, especially if they are designed by a floral artist. We are sharing 5 of our favorites with you today.

1. ERIC BUTERBAUGH

Some of Buterbaugh’s more famous clients, such as Tory Burch, Tom Ford, Jessica Alba, Helmut Newton, and some top Louis Vuitton execs, have given Buterbaugh floral arrangements and fragrances as gifts, to themselves and to others.

Buterbaugh has always been enamoured with flowers. Raised in a small town in Oklahoma, he worked with Gianni Versace in the 1980s and 1990s before taking up floral design.

While the look is mega-lush, the tiny details are also a giant part of what sets Buterbaugh’s floral designs apart.

We love Buterbaugh’s signature wrapped glass vases -- cloaked in taffeta, snakeskin, fur, ostrich leather, or Swarovski crystals, for an haute couture look and feel.

Buterbaugh's floral design signature is the reflex open rose, with each petal flipped back, yielding a new idea that is a fresh take on voluptuous. Labor intensive, and over-the-top, a reflex rose bouquet will elicit sighs.

Another beautiful gift idea: Eric Buterbaugh Florals, the debut fragrance collection. Choose from 10 pure florals, including a balanced Violet, a spicy Rose, an intense "Rose Grande;” and a heady Lily of the Valley -- all bottled in lovely crystal flacons. You can find them here.

Buterbaugh now also serves as the resident florist at the Four Seasons Los Angeles. You can also find his floral arrangements at the Chateau Marmont hotel, as well as at the Cartier and Dior boutiques.

2. BJÖRN KRONER

German Master floral designer Björn Kroner wins loads of awards for his creativity and style. He unleashes his artistry in every flower arrangement he designs, whether it is headed to a wedding for the Kingdom of Bahrain or to the table of your special friend.

While his creations are anything but conventional, Kroner is very mindful of geometric and color rules, bending, but not breaking them -- very deliberately.

Kroner favors multicolored and multi-textured combos. His flowers are sourced nearby, in the Netherlands. You might choose a gift of seasonal flowers or one that combines them with tropical blossoms.

3. LEWIS MILLER

American floral designer Lewis Miller was raised in flower heaven -- amidst California almond, olive and peach orchards, playing in gardens full of cabbage roses and wisteria.

His arrangements are poetic, recalling Renaissance still life paintings, with opulent blooms unabashedly partying together in each vessel.

Lewis studied horticulture and landscape design in Seattle for 7 years before moving to New York to work with top floral boutiques there.

LMD New York, founded in 2002, is Lewis’s multi-event production house, if you need a whole party done. Clearly, even on a smaller, more intimate level, a Lewis floral arrangement makes a very beautiful gift.

4. LILY LODGE

American floral designer Ariana Lambert Smeraldo, of Lily Lodge, comes from a long line of fashionistas. Her family received The French Legion of Honor for being the first to import French Couture into the US for “Blum’s Vogue,” the leading couture boutique from the 1920’s through the 1960’s.

Smeraldo’s flower designs might include parrot tulips, bearded iris, calla lilies, allium, Gloriosa lilies, cymbidiums, sweet pea, anemones, French lilac, New Zealand peonies, Dutch Hydrangea, and organic Dahlias, or whatever is fresh and beautiful at the moment.

Lily Lodge fresh flowers are pesticide free, whenever possible. They are sourced from high quality small local and international growers.

Check out Smeraldo’s carefully curated rare vases, like those made of Qing Dynasty Peking glass, 40’s Murano glass, and Art Deco glass, as well as those conceived by artists and designers, such as Alain Le Foll, Ron Arad, and Björn Wiinblad.

Lily Lodge’s signature wood-grain embossed oversized green boxes will let your loved one know there’s something especially beautiful inside.

5. FREDERIQUE’S CHOICE

Frederique’s Choice is a new BN fave. We featured their wonderful new floral design and delivery service in a previous BN Daily Fix post, Garden Flowers Make Life More Beautiful Now.

Dutch supermodel Frederique Van Der Waal, founded Frederique’s Choice after Holland named a special lily in her honor. Frederique’s Choice bouquets feel special, with a generous helping of creativity and luscious fresh blooms, sourced directly from Dutch growers.

Frederique’s Choice invites you to “live life in full bloom," an invitation that can make an extraordinary gift.
