1. PUTNAM & PUTNAM FLORAL DESIGN

Husbands Michael and Darroch Putnam team up at Putnam & Putnam Flowers, a boutique floral design company that creates some of the most opulent, creative arrangements. Mike, whose background is in interior design, found a particular passion for working with flowers.

Darroch, whose background is in fashion photography, takes photos of their special creations.

Everything Putnam & Putnam creates is lush and organic, with an air of romance. They lean towards heirloom flower varieties and dusty antique palettes.

Based in New York City, their work has been featured in Vogue, Martha Stewart Living, Harper’s Bazaar, W, Brides, Town & Country, Elle Decor & The Wall Street Journal editorial. Their commercial clients include Cartier, Club Monaco, Adam Lippes, Barneys, and The Frick Collection.

2. L. BECKER FLOWERS

If you want to add an extra gift to your gift of flowers, L. Becker Flowers, co-owned by Larry Becker and Roger Crowley, offers his made-to-order arrangements in gorgeous antique vessels. Sometimes they are group with curated antique objets.

Becker might loosely arrange flowers, such as Rare Orange Gloriosa Rothschildiana Lilies, a perfectly paired “vase,” such as an 18th-century French blown-glass lace-maker's water lens.”

Even better, Becker can come to any NYC location and provide in situ floral decoration for residences, coordinating with a room's art and decor.

The selection of flowers changes every day with unusual varieties chosen from around the world.

L. Becker’s shop, which sits on a quiet street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, is a "cabinet of wonders," with a continuously changing collection of unique botany, uncommon decorative objects, and antique furnishings.

3. MCQUEENS

If you like a tight interpretation of perfection, floral arrangements designed by McQueens, of London, are just the ticket.

Founded by Kally Ellis, McQueens, arrangements are known for their meticulous shapes, with neat bundles of flawless blooms.

Ellis was a marketing executive for a bank in her first career. But the loss of a dear friend, and the flower bouquet she bought in tribute, sparked a new passion for floral design. She literally had a dream about becoming a florist.

She began in a small rundown shop in Shoreditch, and in 25 years, built it into a major business. She recently commissioned a vase, designed by Kathryn Sherriff to commemorate McQueens’ 25 year anniversary.

Ellis is a beautiful mother as well. Her children often accompanied her at the shop from the time they were babies.

McQueens’ commercial clients include Claridge’s, Mulberry and Moët & Chandon. They’ve also provided flowers for the Vanity Fair post-Oscars party and a host of Hollywood celebrities.

4. FLOWERS FOR THE PEOPLE
