Check out two of the most intense, intensely beautiful places on Earth right now: Dallol Crater and Fly Geyser. See them below.

Fly Geyser, near Gerlach, Nevada. Nevada

FLY GEYSER -- NEVADA

An intense accident created this intensely beautiful phenomenon. In 1916, someone drilled a geothermal well in Washoe County, Nevada. About 50 years later, the super hot underground water found a crack in the earth and erupted. Now known as the Fly Geyser, it has been erupting ever since.

The Fly Geyser regularly spits water up to 5 feet into the air. Intensely colored travertine rock has been growing up around it, forming from the dissolved minerals deposited by the spew. The colors come from thermophilic algae.

You’ll need permission to get a peek. The Fly Geyser is located on a private ranch.

DALLOL -- DANAKIL DESERT, ETHIOPIA

Check out this intense psychedelic volcano in the Danakil Desert in Ethiopia.

It was caused by a monster phreatic eruption, when magma pushed through salt deposits and water, exploding into an epic fountain of rock, ash, water, steam, and volcanic bombs, formed from molten rock that cooled and solidified before it hit the ground.

Dallol. Danakil Desert, Ethiopia

It created a crater, known as Dallol.

Dallol is surrounded by acidic hot springs, piles of sulphur, pillars of salt, small gas geysers and acid pools edged by salt ridges.

Fairy chimneys and were formed when the Red Sea flooded the Danakil Depression, 136.8 meters below sea level, and salt deposits built up around volcanic gas vents.

Dallol is accessible only by camel caravans or 4WD vehicle. And fair warning, this is a political danger zone, with warring bandits who tend to be a bit hostage-hungry.
