ANDRES SARDA

Spanish lingerie artiste Andres Sarda began his incredibly beautiful brand in 1962 in his native Barcelona.

In the 1980s, Andre Sarda's daughter, Nuria Sarda, joined the family business and is carrying it onward and upward as the company’s Creative Director.

The Andres Sarda brand was named 2014 Designer of the Year at the Salon International de la Lingerie in Paris.

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER

This piece, by Jean Paul Gaultier is not from this season. But we cannot leave it alone. It is from the Confession of a Child of the Century haute couture collection of 2013.

I.D. SARRIERI

I.D. Sarrieri is a decadent haute lingerie brand from Romania that is a real sleeper. It rivals the most luxurious French and Italian designs. Not only are the pieces made with exquisite fabrics, like embellished metallic silver Chantilly lace, like works of art, they are signed by their creators.

The designs often go way further when it comes to shape and style, lifting the body to new, higher planes.

Artisans craft each piece.

The Couture line features four collections: ‘Fleur’, a collection of refreshingly innovative pieces inspired by the golden era of Haute Couture design. With the fabulously flounced bodice (shown above) it could double as a gorgeous top to cigarette pants or a frothy ballerina skirt.

This statement peplum bustier with gored hips is a retro romance ready for action. With meticulous detailing and heavenly fabrics, it’s another piece that can be worn inside or out.

NICHOLE DE CARLE LONDON

What does architecture have to do with love and lust?

British luxury lingerie brand Nichole de Carle London rocks architectural style in the new Soiree and Onyx SS15 luxury lingerie collections.

The collection was inspired by the “structural complexity of architectural masterpieces” and couture contouring. Despite the strong contemporary lines, each piece feels soft and feminine. Beyonce, Paloma Faith, and Jessie J all trust their curves to these beauties.

AGENT PROVOCATEUR

The Agent Provocateur Soiree Collection of haute couture lingerie sparkles with hundreds of Swarovski crystals studded amidst French lace, set against gossamer silk and tulle. It’s so light to the touch, it can take whatever heat comes its way.

CERVIN

If you are into vintage, you will love Cervin, the French house of luxury hosiery. They’ve been making gorgeous retro stockings since before they were retro -- since 1920.

With exquisite detail in the Edwardian-style seams, these stockings are made of pure crystal nylon. They are available in a range of spectacular colours, including contemporary bicolour opaque seam stockings.

LA PERLA ATELIER

La Perla lingerie inspires song lyrics, poetry, and some pretty sexy encounters. Why? Because since its inception, in 1954, when the Bolognese corset-maker Ada Masotti founded the company, it has always produced the perfect balance of elegance, heat, sweet, and spice.

Creative Director Emiliano Rinaldi has created La Perla’s first haute couture line, recently launched with a runway show in Paris.

It is exquisite. Highlights include “impossible lace,” based on a pattern from the early 1900s, replete with feathers, crystals, metallic elements and pure gold thread, embroidered using the “frastaglio” technique.

Naomi Campbell was the show’s closer.

BETWEEN THE SHEETS

We love, love, love, this retro negligée robe from luxury lingerie maker Between the Sheets! It’s sexy, sweet, demure, and not. Made of bias cut 100% silk chiffon, with "eyelash" lace inset, with French seams.

MARJOLAINE

Cool smoky blue opulent handmade lace from Calais, edges this silk babydoll set from Marjolaine. Soft and tender, but not too innocent, it makes for a magnificent intimate portrait of you. This is a good mid-range set… perfect for everyday luxury.

LINGERIE SCIENCE

Researchers at Concordia University in Montreal recently found that male animals can learn to associate the sight and feel of clothing with sex. They actually experimented with rats wearing lingerie. We are both laughing and saying “eeew”... and then we are thinking...

Well, we won’t get into the nitty gritty of it all here but you can read more about it in Live Science, if you are so inclined.

The findings were presented this past November at the 44th annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in Washington, D.C.
