EXPLODING BEAUTY IS THE MOST FLEETING

While his photographs are deemed “still-lifes,” nothing is still except for the fraction of a second in which Christ freezes the explosive action. And, while the explosion happens in a flash, the photo take a lot of time and skill to set up before the shot is taken.

"Nothing is accidental - I push the boundaries of the special effects and photographic techniques I'm using to create controlled coincidence," Christ explains.

Each shot is unique, sharing only the commonality of unpredictability and surprise as Christ gives life to otherwise inanimate objects. 

Colored powders, liquids, and flowers are among Christ’s favorite subjects. He creates an explosion with each, creating a dichotomy between powerful force and the resulting delicate forms.

Each explosion is a fleeting beauty, as ephemeral as a whiff of perfume. Prada commissioned Christ to create "Les Infusions de Prada" series.

Christ’s other commercial clients have included Sony, Nokia, Samsung, Evian, L’Oreal, Nike, New Balance, Johnnie Walker, & Absolut Vodka.
