SPINS, JUMPS & OLYMPICS GEOMETRY
Geometry is inherent in sports. Angles, edges, volume, curves, height -- it all matters. Geometry is beautiful to watch play out. Now, with the Winter Olympics underway, we are loving the geometry of ski jumps, snowboard air, ice skating spins and the like.
Today, we’re checking out the beautiful geometry of the dazzling new Blue Iceberg and all of the triple axels, arabesques, cantelevers, butterfly jumps, lutzes, and all the spins: Beillmann, camel, back, lay, etc., that are happening inside.
Check out these figure skating beauties as they rock their Beautiful Geometry.
For a great primer on the geometry and physics of Winter Olympic sports, check out Mathspig. It’s really cool!
