THE BEAUTIFUL LANGUAGE & STORY OF MOVEMENT NOW
Dance is all about beautiful movement. It is movement usually in relation to music, or sound. It is, in its essence, also a language of movement.
JÉSUS ARMAND
Photographer Jesús Armand (aka Jesús Chapa-Malacara) tells the story of dance, using its own language.
Armand’s long-term project, Dance Prints: Humans Slicing Through Space, is a masterpiece series, that conveys the form and trajectory of dancers’ movements with stunning elegance, set against stark black backgrounds.
Each photo captures one movement, from beginning to end. The blur between beginning and end, caught by long exposures, is part of the joy.
Armand’s photos are not Photoshopped or manipulated. He uses no special equipment. This makes the images even more admirable as we appreciate their technical brilliance, his use of light and sensitive composition.
Beyond his photography work, Armand is a multimedia artist, fine art and commercial photographer and former professional ballet dancer.
