A VISIT TO SHANGHAI THROUGH THE LENS OF MICHAEL EASTMAN

What is it about Shanghai that conjures up our sci fi fantasies? From Blade Runner in the '80s to the recent Cloud Atlas, the city lives in our minds as buildings that come to life through light and sound. It’s not a surprise that it has also captured the attention of photographer Michael Eastman, who revels in the effects of light on the masterpieces of urban architecture. Turning his wide-angle lense and long exposure time to the Jin Mao Tower’s atrium in Shanghai (above) he transports us there in the blink of an eye. Want to visit the futuristic space in real life? Book at night at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai—and be sure to take (and share) a few images of your own when you’re there.
